A 22-year-old thug who placed car keys around his knuckles and hit his victim around the head has been jailed.

On Monday, December 17 at Snaresbrook Crown Court, 22-year-old Solomon Chan, of Beaumont Court, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm after the incident in Stoke Newington Road. He was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment.

On Sunday, April 15, the 38-year-old victim was cycling in Stoke Newington Road, when a vehicle nearly knocked him off his bike. A verbal argument erupted with the driver of the vehicle - Solomon Chan.

A fight began, where Chan placed car keys around his knuckles and began hitting the victim around the head. Chan then got back in his car and drove off at speed. At this point the victim discovered that 1cm of his middle finger was missing.

DC Will Hughes, from Hackney's CID said: "I hope this sentence acts as a warning to others, road rage will not be tolerated in Hackney.

"Officers from Hackney were praised by the judge for their combined efforts in solving this crime. He went on to warn Chan about his future conduct."
