The PTA is holding an evening meeting on 12 February, bringing parents and carers together to look at how we can encourage students to read for pleasure.

We have lots of events in school to encourage reading, including last week's talk from popular children's author Bali Rai.

Whether your child loves reading or not, parents and carers are welcome to come along to the meeting to share thoughts and experiences.

The meeting will run from 6.30pm to 8.45pm in the school library – and it will be a sociable and lively evening. Parents and carers will be able to:

  • find out about the exciting library redesign from library manager Julie Loy and literacy leader Gillian Carr;
  • try out an English lesson;
  • share ideas about books and reading with other parents, carers and school staff;
  • see what's on offer on the Victoria Park Bookshop bookstall.

The PTA also wants your ideas for a new reading guide for parents and carers. The booklet will be available in the summer and will be jam-packed with ideas about reading for pleasure – come along on 12 February and find out more.
