Stoke Newington resident Metin Sanci is on trial for rape, attempted rape and sexual assault on a girl in her twenties in Islington last summer.
The 34 year old Stokey local is accused of following a barmaid home after her late shift and attacking her on her doorstep. Prosecution claim Sanci tried to gag and strangle the young woman who bit sharply through his tongue as he attempted to kiss her. The injury incurred was so severe it caused Sanci to flee the scene, the court heard earlier this week.
The defendant was detained not far from the scene of the incident and taken to hospital to have his tongue stitched up before being questioned. Footage and witnesses place Sanci at the scene, but he insists the encounter was consensual. The trial continues.
