In my seaside home town many years ago artists were not supported as it was thought they had no commercial use, until a bright spark organised with a few shops to agree to show a painting in thier front window and then they produced a map availacble in Librays with a discount token to buy a painting and a discount token for the business holding the work, they called it an Art Trail, since then Leigh on Sea has the Art Trail every summer it attracts many many people and the local bussiness are on waiting lists to show Art.
Leytonestone now has an art trail and auction off the paintings so its a fair deal for all, it creates good fair trade commerce wihch puts creative juice into, staid commercial dinosaurs, parks display scluptures, live bands perform on the street, Artists get the best free promotion ever, mums and dads love it http://tinyurl.com/3cqc6zp
I moved to London last year and Stokenewtone is on my door step, I love it, as an Artist myself, i wonder why you do not have this great event and help the strugging local enterprise become arterprise.
