A therapeutic group focusing on 'The Artist's Way' with Sophie Waterhouse MA MBACP (Accred).
"No matter what your age or your life path, whether making art is your career or your hobby or your dream, it is not too late or too egotistical or too selfish or too silly to work on your creativity." Julia Cameron 'The Artist's Way'.
For too many of us joy and ease in creative expression is something we left behind with childhood. This thirteen-week group will use Julia Cameron's book 'The Artist's Way' as a catalyst for reclaiming and developing the innate creativity we experience when we are young that is in fact our birthright for life.
This group is offered for those who would like the particular type of support and structure a therapeutic group provides in working with their creativity. Being part of a therapeutic group gives us an opportunity to share our experience in a confidential and boundaried setting. Each week will be dedicated to a different chapter of the book, how we respond to the issues it raises and how best to support the creative self.
I first came across 'The Artist's Way' seventeen years ago while struggling with writer's block. I found the exercises had an immediate positive impact. The book also ignited my interest in the therapeutic potential of the arts, which led me to train in expressive arts therapy in the United States. I bring to the group expressive arts therapy and Spectrum training together with continuing active engagement with creativity, primarily as a writer and therapist but also through visual arts, pottery, textiles and cooking.
The group will take place at Spectrum Therapy, 7 Endymion Road, London N4 1EE from 7:15pm to 9:15pm on Monday evenings January 13th, 20th, 27th, February 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st and April 7th 2014. The fee is £325.
