The shotgun is still the choice of many criminals
Clissold Park is usually the place you would go to enjoy a walk, play in the park with your children or on Thursday night take a sawn off shotgun.
Officers were called to the park around 10.30pm after CCTV operators became aware of a group young males acting suspiciously in Queen Elizabeth’s Walk in Stoke Newington.
As officers arrived the group disburse into the park, but the Bobbies had arrested an 18 year old male.
The immediate area was then secured and sealed off from the public and further officers began a search of the area.
Shortly afterwards a bag containing a sawn off shogun and two rounds of ammunition was found. Two males also aged 18 years were later arrested in Brownswood Road. All three suspected males were taken to an East London police station, where the investigation continued.
The sawn off shotgun has been a weapon of choice for criminals all over the country for the last few decades as it is easy to conceal and has a wider spread of shots, the metal projectiles that are released from the cartridge when fired.
This type of weapon has been easier to obtain than most, as firearms licenses allow the use of shotguns to permitted users, which has encouraged the theft of these weapons to be later have the barrel cut down to form the sawn off shotgun we read about today.
What do you think? Have you heard about youth's carrying guns in Stokey? Would this stop you going to the park?

I grew up hanging out in Clissold Park and you do get your fair share of ruffians. I remember a few times in which we had to make a bolt for it after sunset coz of people chasing us or mugging us or whatever, but this is Hackney, people have to take the rough with the smooth. I doubt the owner of the shot gun was planning to pick off little kids on the swings or anything. I'm not condoning carrying a weapon, but I do think that most of the people caught up in the literal crossfire are in some way implicated in the situation. I really don't think anyone should be discouraged from making the most of such a wonderful park because of a few morons.
