The school holidays have gone in a flash and all of a sudden it’s going back to school time. With most schools in Hackney going back on Wednesday September 1 I’ve had a look at the best places to go in Stoke Newington to give you a guide of where to go.

Are you prepared?
If your child attends Stoke Newington School and Sixth Form then the school recommends you buy all uniform and PE uniform from local school uniform suppliers Henry Taylor at their shop based at 119-121 Hoe Street, Walthamstow, E17 4RZ. You can call and order or visit during opening hours 9am – 5pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 1pm on Wednesday. To help parents with their last minute emergency shops the shop is hosting special late night opening next week until 8.30pm on 24, 25 and 26 August.
To make things easier they will drop off any uniform that has been ordered via their shop phone number to School Reception each Friday for collection.Parents can pay by credit/debit card directly to their telephone number or you can leave an envelope with the current amount in reception with your child’s name, tutor group, amount enclosed and items ordered clearly written ready for Friday collection.
Deputy headteacher Ms Wright has sent a letter to parents warning parents: “Please remember if your child will be in year 10 they need to have a blue shirt or blue polo shirt with the logo.”
For the full uniform price list see here
The William Patten Primary School does not have a dress code but has a guideline for parents in terms of appropriate clothes here.
The Grazebook Primary School has a uniform of blue sweatshirts/jumpers and cardigans with a white or light blue polo shirts underneath. The school sweatshirts, priced £8.50 and fleece, priced £13.50 are available only from the Khalsa Schoolwear Shop, at 388-390 Bethnal Green Road London E2 0AH, Tel:020 7729 3286.
For more generic back to school stationary items a few parents I know head to Kingsland Road in Dalston for Kingsland Shopping Centre. At the moment Sainsburys has some great offers as well as stationery, pads, felt tips and lunch boxes and Matalan has some good budget stationary.
Within the shopping centre is Shoe Zone and Simpson which should be the perfect places to buy practical school shoes.
Is there any other local business or shop that is offering great back to school deals? If let me know by leaving a comment below.
