The widely acclaimed Alejandro and the Magic Tombolinos have got into the final 10 bands and could go on to get signed.

The Balkan Gypsy band band entered the Evo Music Rooms competition and fought off competition from thousands of bands and musicians.

The Stoke Newington based band consists of six travelling musicians from all over the world from Italy to Argentina.

Formed in 2008 the band is led by Alejandro Toledo - who has a bachelor degree in classical saxophone and a masters in gypsy performance practices.

He is joined by Jozef Berka on the bongos, the percussionist Nuno Brito on the drums, composer Maurizio Pala who plays the accordian, and double bassist Augustin Colette.

The high energy band describe themselves as having a 'conjunction of influences from the different places they've all lived'.

They are regulars to the London gig circuit and played Glastonbury festival last year in front of thousands.

The winners of the competition will go on to get one-to-one mentoring from some of music's biggest names and a fully equipped recording studio to lay down up to 3 singles.

Voting for the competition ends this TUESDAY March 16 so get online and vote for the local talent.
