The Housing Market in Stoke Newington

To sum the current housing market in a certain area, you
-
House prices are still good in Stokie
first have to sum up the area and strangely the best way to do this came to me
whilst doing my grocery shopping, by relating our very own Stoke Newington to a
vegetable.........
A potato. Now being our wonderful area we all know that this
would not be just an ordinary potato, definitely not. A N16 potato would be an
organic, rare variety and hand picked potato. It would arrive on your doorstep as
part of a environmental and socially accepted process. Crafted in recyclable
materials, packaged by an artist on the brink of success and delivered by a
biofueled cart.
But with all this originality comes a price, slightly more
expensive than your standard spud.
We all know Stokie is not the cheapest place to live, as our
reputation in this city is so high we can kind of understand the attraction of
our community to visitors and homebuyers. With this attraction comes an
increase in property value.
Figures from upmystreet.com certainly reflect this as a terraced
property in Bayston Road, N16, was sold in 2001 for approximately £230,000.
That same property was sold at the beginning of the year for approximately
£560,000.
With an average selling price of properties in N16 soaring
at £362,417. It seems we can be satisfied that the housing market is good, as
the national average is £229,767.
Like most homeowners the main point of concern for me in
these current times is the price of my bricks and mortar today. For a really
good and simple graph on the subject, visit Homes.co.uk.

Like most things it is sometimes easier to just relax on
your sofa and surf the web. Gumtree
is an excellent website for free ads. Just a word of warning, all descriptions
and pictures are updated by the seller and there have been stories of
properties being advertised that do not match up to the description or even
worse are not actually for sale or rent. Another issue I’ve found is that as
N16 is such a desirable area, some advertisers are stretching our borders that
define Stoke Newington, unless I’m mistaken Dalston Lane is in Dalston not N16.
One of the most popular property website is Rightmove. This
is perfect if you want to get a broad selection of homes for sale in your area.

Another great way to sell or enquire about properties for
sale or rent is our very own Stoke Newington People site. Here members of our
community can advertise their properties and you can be sure that if anyone
tries to sell something that is not 100% Stokie then you’ll have a whole online
local community ready to give their opinion on what its really like.
